Bad Breath

You can kiss it goodbye!

Even though it's something we all experience once in a while, bad breath is a problem many people have a hard time talking about, even with their dentist.  It's time we broke the silence with some good news.  Bad breath can usually be cured by practising the basics of good oral hygiene.
There are many causes of bad breath but plaque and food particles on the teeth are the most common culprits.  The solution is simple - brush 2 to 3 times a day, floss daily, even after every meal if necessary, and come in for your regular dental check up and cleaning.
Morning breath is also due to plaque and food residue.  Your salivary flow reduces significantly when you sleep.  That means that any food particles that were not effectively removed prior to sleeping will sit on your teeth and gums for extended periods of time allowing the bacteria to release toxins creating bad breath, gum disease, cavities etc.
The tongue is also a huge reservoir for food particles and bacteria.  Remember to always brush your tongue with water or toothpaste, every time you brush your teeth.
Other contributors to bad breath are: fad diets, prescription drugs, systemic diseases, acid reflux and post nasal drip.  If you exercise good oral hygiene and you still suffer from bad breath, don't be embarrassed.  Talk to us...we can help you!
